Rainbows

Sue Shumway (May 31, 1941 to January 2, 2007)
U-CD Amaris Windy City Girl CD CGC TDI (Moriah) (12/17/2001 to 06/07/2006)

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Sue. She has been a great and invaluable friend to all the people at JPS. We will all miss her terribly. In June, when Moriah died, she continued to come to class to visit and support us. She frequently told me that she thought of our group as a family. She bought an agility dog walk for JPS in honor of Moriah, and said that every time we used it, we should think of Moriah and the Rainbow Bridge. Sadly for us, seven months later, Sue met Moriah and all the dogs she had loved and lost before her. They all crossed the Rainbow Bridge, together again. The following poem was given to me after Sue passed away. I do not know who the author is, but it fits who Sue was so very well. Sue, we all will miss you!

With Love...

     Love Doesn't Die

Give what is left of me away
     Now that I am gone
Remember me with a smile and laughter
And if you need to cry...
Cry for your brother and sister,
Who walk in grief beside you
Put your arms around anyone and give
     To them
What you need to give to me

I want to leave you something
Something better than words or sounds
Look for me in the people
     I've known or loved, or
Let me live in your eyes
     As well as your memory.
     You can love me most
By letting love live within the circle
     Of your arms...
Embracing others and passing my love on

     Love doesn't die, people do...
So when all that is left of me is love,
Give me away as best you can,
Until then...I'll see you at home,
     Where I'll be waiting
